What is your program and what do you do?

Our program provides access to state of the art testing for families who have experienced SUDP and full explanation of any findings based upon the leading medical research. Our services are provided with sensitivity to the complexities that come with child loss.

What is your program’s relationship with the OCME and the Massachusetts Center for Unexpected Infant and Child Death?

Our program is separate from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Access to materials from the OCME occur similarly to those with other states. Robert’s Program relies on the Massachusetts Center for Unexpected Infant and Child Death for local referrals and works closely with the Center to improve care for families after SUDP.

How much does your program cost?

Our program is offered free of charge to all families.

What if I am not from Massachusetts?

Our program offers some services that can only be available in person. However, for families who are distant, we conduct intakes and results sharing via web-based conferencing. These web-based interactions are limited by medical license restrictions.

If I choose to participate, how long will I be involved with the program?

The time it takes for a complete evaluation of a child’s case varies based upon the individual circumstances. Our goal, however, is for the evaluation to be completed within six to nine months of enrollment. We work to keep you informed and updated on the progress of the case as we go on. Even after you have received the results of our assessment, any case may be revisited in months or years to come. We never consider a case “closed” and we encourage families to remain in touch and contact us with questions as new research develops.
