Chief, Division of Electrophysiology; Tommy Kaplan Family Chair in Pediatric Cardiology; Director, Pacemaker and ICD Program; Senior Associate Cardiologist, Department of Cardiology
Dr. Mah completed medical school at McMaster University and his pediatric residency training at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, Maryland. He then completed his cardiology fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital, followed by a senior fellowship in pediatric and congenital electrophysiology. Dr. Mah is currently a member of the Electrophysiology Division at Boston Children’s Hospital, and is Director of the Pacemaker and Defibrillator program. Dr. Mah sees patients with heart rhythm disorders, both in the inpatient and outpatient setting, while also performing complex arrhythmia ablations and pacemaker/defibrillator implants in our state-of-the-art catheterization and device labs. His research is focused on the use of cardiac resynchronization devices and the creation a pacemaker/defibrillator registry to optimize patient care and follow-up in the New England area.
Approach to Care
When patients come to Boston Children’s Hospital, they are seeking our help, often at a frightening or vulnerable time in their lives. Being evaluated for a heart condition, even if you ultimately come up with a clean bill of health, can be an incredibly stressful experience. My hope for all my patients is that they feel comforted and supported when they come to see me - that they feel we are partners in this together, walking side-by-side, step-by-step through the highs and lows that inevitably come with any medical issue.
