Professional History

Dr. Edwin Kulubya is a pediatric neurosurgeon with a unique foundation in both neurosurgery and orthopedic spine surgery. He specializes in the treatment of children with complex spinal deformities, including scoliosis, spondylolisthesis, and congenital anomalies, and is proficient in minimally invasive techniques for spinal decompression and discectomy. As one of the few dual-trained pediatric spine surgeons in the country, he completed fellowship training in pediatric neurosurgery at Boston Children’s Hospital and advanced spine deformity at Columbia University. These complementary experiences allow him to integrate principles from both fields to provide comprehensive surgical care for children requiring nuanced planning and interdisciplinary coordination.

Dr. Kulubya completed his neurosurgical training at UC Davis, where he gained extensive experience managing brain and spinal trauma. His academic work has been recognized with multiple awards, peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and national presentations. Dedicated to advancing surgical innovation, patient-centered care, and mentorship, he is committed to improving outcomes for children while also expanding access to high-quality neurosurgical care for underserved communities locally and abroad.

Approach to Care
My philosophy of care is grounded in compassion, collaboration, and respect for families facing some of the most difficult moments in their lives. I treat each child with the same care and thoughtful decision-making I would offer my own. I believe that children with brain and spinal conditions deserve treatment that combines surgical expertise with a deep respect for their goals and needs. I take a team-based approach, working closely with specialists across disciplines to provide safe, comprehensive care tailored to each child. My commitment extends beyond the operating room — I strive to ensure that families feel informed, supported, and empowered throughout the decision-making process.
