Dr. Gayathry Nene’s interest in medicine was cultivated before high school, after a formative tsunami-relief volunteer mission at an orphanage back home in Sri Lanka in 2005. Her undergraduate studies took her to Tufts University, where she double-majored in Child Development and Community Health. She attended the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine for medical school and then completed her residency at Tufts Floating Hospital for Children in Boston. She joined Needham Pediatrics in 2024, prior to which she worked at Wilmington Pediatrics for 5 years.

Dr. Nene is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Massachusetts Medical Society. As a pediatrician, Dr. Nene appreciates the broad range of primary care expertise required to guide a child and family from the first days of life all the way through adolescence. The unique opportunity to watch a child and family grow and be a small part of that journey is what motivates her professionally. Outside of work, Dr. Nene loves dancing, baking, traveling, and enjoys time with her daughter, son, husband, and extended family.
