Professional History

Dr. Sosa Soto graduated with honors from Universidad Dr. José Matías Delgado in El Salvador, his birth country. As a medical student, he participated in an international collaboration with Washington University in St. Louis to study the intestinal microbiota of a rural Salvadoran village, an experience that underscored the importance of global scientific cooperation. After graduation, he completed his Pediatric Residency with a Global Child Health Certificate at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC, followed by a Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Sosa Soto is passionate about medical education and collaborates with the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program at Hospital Nacional de Niños Benjamin Bloom in El Salvador. He is currently working to expand this partnership to support educational exchanges for both Salvadoran and U.S.-based trainees. In addition to his role in the Division of Infectious Diseases and as a faculty member of the Margaret C. Ryan Global Health Program, Dr. Sosa Soto works as a pediatric hospitalist with the Indian Health Service at the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, providing care to children in an underserved Native American community.
