Your Visit

Whom and when to call for an appointment

  • To schedule an appointment, call 617-355-5945.
  • As soon as you know when you are traveling, call us to schedule an appointment.
  • Vaccines should be received at least four to six weeks before travel.
  • When calling to make an appointment, please inform us of any other vaccines or immunizations you recently received.

What to do before you arrive

  • Fax (617-730-4764) a referral from your primary care physician (if required according to your insurance plan).
  • Send a copy of everyone's immunization record who will have an appointment with the clinic.
  • Compile a list of medications you or your child is taking.
  • Fax (617-730-4764) a pre-authorization form from you and your child's insurance company (if required according to your insurance plan).

What to bring to an appointment

  • Travel itinerary (dates and locations of where you will go and where you will stay while traveling)
  • A copy of everyone's immunization record who will have an appointment with the clinic
  • Lists of medications you or your child is taking
  • Anyone under the age of 18 who is scheduled to receive an immunization with the clinic must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Appointments are recommended at least four weeks prior to traveling in order to complete all the necessary travel immunizations and counseling.

Before visiting the Travel and Geographic Medicine Clinic or departing for travel, we highly recommend you visit the Center for Disease Control and Prevention's website, as it is full of pertinent information regarding regional diseases and how to minimize potential risk.

What the travel clinic does not provide

  • School vaccinations
  • Influenza vaccinations
  • Services for walk-in patients
