Professional History

Dr. Kaza graduated from medical school at Boston University, followed by a five year surgical residency at the Ochsner Clinic. During his surgical residency, he took two years off to spend in the thoracic and cardiovascular surgery research laboratory at the University of Virginia. Subsequently, he did his cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at the University of Colorado. He stayed an extra year in Denver to do a fellowship in pediatric cardiac surgery. He then came to Boston for his twelfth and final year of post-graduate training to serve as the chief resident in congenital cardiac surgery. He took his first job in pediatric cardiac surgery at the University of Utah based at Primary Children’s Hospital. He was in practice there for five years when he was recruited back to Boston Children’s Hospital. He has been at Boston Children’s Hospital since 2013 and is involved in all aspects of congenital heart surgery and translational research. He is also involved in patient operations and international outreach at the hospital level. He works with a dedicated team to help improve patient flow and throughput in the hospital

Approach to Care
I am a congenital cardiac surgeon who cares for neonates, infants, children and adults born with congenital heart disease. I perform a wide spectrum of surgeries for congenital heart defects. My goal is to provide innovative and “cutting edge” cardiac surgical care in an ethical, compassionate, and family-centric fashion. I am also involved in translational research to help improve patient care.
