The Infusion and Day Treatment Programs (IDTP) in Boston and Waltham treat between 30 to 50 patients per day. Visit length can vary based on treatment prescribed and can range from 30 minutes to 12 hours.

Patients are referred by Boston Children's specialty programs, including but not limited to:

  • Immunology
  • Allergy
  • Rheumatology
  • Neurology
  • Gastroenterology
  • General Pediatrics
  • Endocrine
  • Diabetes Day Treatment/Boston
  • Renal
  • Cardiology
  • Pulmonology
  • Metabolism/Genetics

We provide care for patients with the following diseases including but not limited to:

Therapies, procedures, and services include but are not limited to:

  • Blood/blood products/transfusion therapies
  • Biologic therapies
  • Metabolic enzyme replacement therapies,
  • Neuro migraine therapies
  • Spinal muscular atrophy therapies (Boston)
  • Gene therapies (Boston)
  • Sickle cell fever
  • Sickle cell pain
  • Food and drug allergy challenges and desensitization
  • Diagnostic endocrine testing
  • Outpatient PICC complications
  • Ultrasound guided peripheral IV (USGPIV) placement
  • Port evals

All referrals to Infusion and Day Treatment must originate from a Boston Children’s Hospital physician.
