Our Specialists

You and your child can rely upon the extensive experience and solution-focused approach of your child’s care team to help determine the best course of treatment. Some of the specialists you and your child may meet include:

  • Clinical psychologists who provide psychotherapy and administer psychological assessments and tests
  • Neuropsychologists who assess cognitive, behavioral, emotional, and social functions
  • Psychiatric nurse practitioners who diagnose psychiatric conditions, prescribe medications, and order diagnostic testing in consultation with a psychiatrist
  • Psychiatrists. They are physicians who specialize in treating mental disorders. They diagnose psychiatric conditions, prescribe medications, conduct physical examinations, and order diagnostic testing
  • Social workers who provide psychotherapy and counseling to patients and their families

It is an exciting time here at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Boston Children’s. With the recent affiliation with Franciscan Children’s Hospital — and the creation of an expansion of a true behavioral health and wellness campus in Brighton on the horizon — there is no better time to join our team and truly find a way to effectively treat, prevent, and someday soon cure mental illness.

This is an exciting opportunity for administration and clinicians at multiple levels. The department provides full clinical inpatient and outpatient services, has a substantial research program, and we are creating a full continuum of care with partial and day programs on the horizon. As a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital, the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences also provides education to medical students, residents, and fellows.
